Who Made Your Clothes?? Foundling did!
Who Made My Clothes??
Who made my clothes, is always a burning question for me when shopping for clothing, it is definitely something that we always consider when we are choosing brands to stock at Merchants of Change.
When we come a cross Foundling we were delighted to finally find a brand that is ethical, high quality, on trend that gives back!!!! We were also impressed that Foundling is NOT mass produced, which means when purchasing Foundling you are certain to get a unique piece that will be worn by few.
All of these things plus more made stocking Foundling a huge tick for us.
Below is more information on why we encourage you to invest in Foundling today.
a matter of ethics
Foundling is 100% owned & operated by two sisters who feel strongly that what they produce must be mindful.
Their clothing range is expertly made by a Sedex accredited, government regulated business in India - that means that the people who make the clothes are not being taken advantage of, they are receiving the minimum award or above & that they are entitled to workplace conditions
which most of us just take for granted.
Foundling make the time to visit their team - a large, family run business in Delhi because it matters. Each year, their facility is audited to maintain its accreditation & it’s nice to know that the team enjoys a sheltered rooftop terrace for breaks, a creche for mothers who might need daycare & a clean, safe professional workplace to pursue their own dreams. So we can all feel great that our foundling purchases are supporting foundling to achieve this.
When you choose foundling - you’re supporting the ethical fashion movement’s mandate to end sweatshop labour! At a grassroots level - you’re helping the people and their families who work for Foundling's suppliers. They also believe in giving back...whilst Foundling is only a small business, to date they have managed to sponsor four different children from developing countries... money towards a better education, helping their community achieve self sufficiency or sometimes just a healthy meal & clean drinking water.
More recently, Foundling teamed up with an organisation - Palna- helping to find forever homes for the abandoned children of old Delhi... so we are excited as a stockist to be supporting Foundling to make a difference. We want to thank you for your support in helping us help Foundling to help Palna, and if you’re curious to find our more or make an individual donation, please visit Palna’s Facebook site or visit Palna’s website.
For Foundling quality really counts...for them its about making things properly and timelessly in a world where most everything has become disposable...So to make sure their range will be beautiful for years to come, Foundlings attention to the finer details ..the fabrics they choose, the way they should fit, right down to the way they stitch the seams so they sit nicely. Turn them inside out and compare the workmanship, they think if something’s worth making, its worth making properly. Foundling design their range from start to finish.
No fabric chosen from wholesale bolts or third party suppliers. Foundling fabric designs are first illustrated by their team in Bryon then sent to their suppliers in India. Then they set about getting the fabrics, cut and colours just right.
So as you can see Foundling are doing it right and are very transparent so you can actually know WHO MADE YOUR CLOTHES!!
